I am inspired by the energy of the city and a longing for the rural resulting from the stories my parents shared of their homelands of Guatemala & Puerto Rico.  As a city dweller, I long for a quiet space where my surroundings are clearly perceived.  In this series of photographs, I explore the dichotomy of American urban cityscapes and Guatemalan rural landscapes.  My photography captures visual moments of raw beauty that, for me, exude peace.  This beauty encompasses many urban and rural forms from objects to the inhabitants.  My intention is to inject these moments of respite within the cacophony of the city for other city dwellers to experience.
